Receiving

Still on the dock

This is where warehouse stock disappears. It has been received, so the books say we hold it. It is not on a shelf, so a picker sent to find it finds nothing — and every count from then on reports a discrepancy that is really a location problem. Oldest first, because that is the order to clear it in.

What we are waiting for

Deliveries a merchant told us are coming. Receiving against one names the merchant without anybody on the floor holding the customer book — ADR 0051, db/098. A delivery that arrives short is closed anyway: the truck has gone, and the variance keeps the difference on the record.

Lines that did not come in full

Open lines where what arrived is not what was expected. A negative difference is short; a positive one is more than we were told to expect, which is a different conversation and just as worth having. Lines that came in exactly are not here — they are not work.
