Which batch
Type the code printed on the carton. A batch belongs to one
product — two suppliers can both print A1 — so a code
that matches more than one comes back as a choice rather than a guess.
Nothing here writes. Finding a batch tells you where it is; holding it is the next step and says so.

Held back
Already on a quarantine shelf. Nothing can pick these, and nothing can take them off it except a release, a write-off or a correction.

Still ours, and still moving
This is the urgent list. Stock promised to an order is on it too — the most urgent unit in the building is the one about to be despatched.

Gone to a customer
Outside the building and outside this ledger. Nobody can walk to these — they are a list of people to ring, and the reference is what to read down the phone.

Hold this batch
Takes everything still ours onto one quarantine shelf, in a single act — off every bin, every pallet and every order it is promised to. Goods already with a customer are not touched, because moving them would be inventing a return that has not happened.
The name becomes part of the account every movement carries, so a year from now the ledger can still say what was held under this recall. Holding is stock:write and releasing is loss:write: stopping goods is the safe direction, putting them back on sale is the one somebody answers for.
Parcels to open
A hold takes a batch off the orders it was promised to — on paper. When the order was already picked or packed, the goods are still in the box. Until somebody opens it, takes them out onto the hold and says so here, the parcel cannot be planned, assigned or collected.

Holds that are open now
Every quarantine shelf with something on it. Derived from the ledger — the hold is an account, the reason is the note on the act that made it, and neither is kept anywhere twice.
